A touch of African

Hello Digs and Skims. I hope you enjoyed your day off work yesterday? I bet you did.

It’s Friday (goodnews!!) and surely, Fridays are liberal dressing days; perfect days to show off a little culture. Asides going all full blown cultural, you can throw on light Ankara inspired pieces that add a touch of African to your ensemble. Let''s see how some of our skimmy fashionistas have done this:

Ankara inspired headwrap

Ankara inspired Shoes/Bag

Ankara inspired Ipele

I saw this on Ezinne of Zinkata and I thought it was cool. Just throwing a light Ankara fabric over your shoulders just like it’s done with Aso-okes is another fab way to add your touch of African.

Ankara inspired neckpieces, bangles, bows, pocket squares

You may also try this with your Ankara fabrics- neck wrap

Tie a little Ankara fabric around your bag handle or strap.
Just like this...

.
Adding a touch of African to a modern outfit just shows how fashion-forward you are. I mean, you put on your lovely jumpsuit, heels and you finish off with an Ankara bag or purse. Or you wear your shift dress, brogues and add an Ankara headwrap for a perfect finish.

For work, all you need are probably Ankara bags, earrings, belts, neckpieces or bows etc... (explore as many as you're permitted to).

Note: the word 'Ankara' was used as a general term to describe similar fabrics as well.

So guys which of these are you willing to try out or what other ways do you add a touch of African to your outfits? Kindly share…
