How to style your Faux Fur this season

In the midst of so many accessories to choose from, faux fur isn’t one to be shoved aside. In fact it’s refreshing to see how many of our skimmy Skims (Fashionistas) have been styling them.

While other parts of the world are experiencing really cold moments, I’m not quite sure what to call what we’re experiencing in Nigeria where I reside. We are kinda shuffling between cold, dry, hot dry and rainy days; whatever that means. Regardless I do not think it’s out of place to throw on a fur stole to jazz up your outfit every once in a while (in Nigeria- at least for now).

Speaking of an accessory that gives you the multiple effect- comfort, warmth and ideal for transforming an outfit from day to night. Why not? There are so many ways to incorporate faux fur into your wardrobe- gloves, stoles, hoodies, coats, jackets, vests, head warmers.

Quoting fashion blogger Ashley of ‘The Daileigh’ (view blog here),

“Faux fur happens to be my favorite accessory. Faux fur is an instant statement maker and perfect for when I’m styling a casual or laid back look. If I were to remove the faux fur stole, it would just be a basic outfit- top, blazer and denim; something anyone will throw together. But with the help of my accessories and faux fur, I’m able to set my look apart by incorporating ME and showing my statement accessory to take the lead of my outfit and really help to ‘make’ it.”

I totally agree. The outfit would have been a bland outfit without the fur stole. See how the stole livened up the look and adds a pop of color? Yh, I see it too.

You know, a scarf could give you a similar effect. But there’s this touch of extravagance and luxury that faux fur adds that a scarf might not give. They come in different colors (as shown in pictures).

In wearing faux fur coats, jackets or vests, keep the rest of the outfit balanced. The faux fur on its own, is enough drama. keep every other thing less dramatic. For casual outfits, combine your favorite faux fur coat with denim, leather pants, oxford shoes, brogues or ankle booties. For evening glam looks, the coat will serve as a nice accessory as well as keep you warm when you wear your shimmery slip dresses or silk blouses and classic pencil skirts or stretch dresses.

Faux fur can also be incorporated in form of details as against serving the original purpose of warmth. It’s not uncommon to see faux fur bags, purses, boots and shoes with fur details.

Try them out in different colors.....
